Major Infrastructure Development
On June 19, 2024, construction commenced on a $200-million, state-of-the-art warehousing facility in Innisfil, marking a significant milestone for the town. The Denmark-based DSV global transport and logistics company is spearheading this project in the Innisfil Heights Employment Area, at the southeast corner of Innisfil Beach Road and the 5th Sideroad. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford and other local dignitaries.
Economic Boost and Job Creation
Once completed, the 1.3-million-square-foot facility is expected to generate approximately 225 jobs. This will be the second-largest facility DSV has built in Canada and is a crucial part of its expansion into the Ontario market. Rob Chanona, DSV Solutions’ Canadian managing director, emphasized the strategic importance of the Innisfil location, highlighting its seamless access to Highway 400.
Community and Economic Development
The project, managed by the development firm Broccolini, is scheduled for completion by August 2025. Broccolini’s CEO, Anthony Broccolini, expressed the importance of community involvement and cooperation in bringing such significant projects to fruition.
Local Government Support
Mayor Lynn Dollin described the new facility as a “major catalyst” for Innisfil’s strategic plan and economic development. She noted that the project could spark a wave of construction interest within the employment zone and the broader 400 corridor. “Today really is a remarkable day. It means more jobs and boosts to our local economy,” Dollin stated, underscoring the town’s commitment to responsible and sustainable growth.
Future Prospects
Innisfil Heights spans over 1,600 acres and can accommodate various industrial, commercial, and tourism-related uses. The area is expected to be fully serviced by 2028, with the potential to support more than 16,000 jobs once fully developed.
